Q: How big of an air compressor do I need for a spray gun?

A: CFM: Spray gun CFM requirements vary from model to model, with smaller guns needing a lower CFM than larger options. Although some air spray guns have ratings lower than 10 CFM, most professionals typically recommend using a compressor capable of at least 12 CFM.

Q: How many PSI to paint a car?

A: Look for a minimum of 15 PSI, with some applications, such as clear coat, better-suited to 20 or 25 PSI. HP: For auto painting, a 10 HP compressor will typically suffice. However, higher HP compressors may operate more efficiently and can be used for other tasks.

Q: What is the difference between HVLP and LVLP?

A: HVLP guns use more CFM and will require users to size their air compressor accordingly. On the other hand, LVLP atomizes better, sprays faster and lays down a better finish while using less CFM but high air pressure.

Q: What are the main components of a spray gun?
